This was only my second international competition, and was my first competition of the year. So I was a little nervous initially. I’d also not flown anywhere in over three years so this was something of a novel experience.
Generally I’m very happy about how I performed. I successfully executed a nice sit combination spin. This was impressive given my sit spins in competitions can be somewhat unpredictable and I’ve never included a sit combination before. It went well. Flip and Salcow Loop combination jumps were not up to my usual standard but were still good enough to gain some points.
Sadly I forgot to include my upright spin after getting confused and disorientated after the Salcow Loop jump. Consequently this lost me a point that would have been an easy point to gain as its a spin that I can usually do reasonably well. This lost point was significant to me, as I scored 18.63, which was less than 1 point below the person that placed third in the event. Consequently this missing spin cost me third place and put me into forth place. Even so this was a good performance and has given me the confidence to compete elsewhere in Europe and the UK this year.
